2008 Pebble Beach RetroAuto Show

Concours d'Elegance, Booth # 211
August 14 - 17, 2008
2008 Pebble Beach RetroAuto Show
Pebble Beach RetroAuto adds a new element to the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance weekend, already the highlight of the year for many classic automobile enthusiasts.

Contemporary artist Steve Maloney created Red Line Rolex @ Daytona with Grand-Am's cooperation in a trackside studio during the 50th running of the Daytona 500. Mere steps from Pit Road and the Daytona 500 Club, Steve Maloney fashioned the sculptural artwork from bodywork debris of Daytona Prototype and Grand Touring racecars collected during the 2008 Rolex 24 at Daytona. http://www.grand-am.com/rolex

Red Line Rolex 24 @ Daytona will be on display at Pebble Beach RetroAuto from August 15 - 17, 2008 and on auction during the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 Champions Banquet at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas on September 22, 2008.

The artwork will be auctioned for the benefit of Camp Boggy Creek, a year-round camp in Eustis, Florida dedicated to enriching the lives of children with serious illnesses through experiences that are fun, empowering, safe and sound. Camp Boggy Creek is a member of Hole in the Wall Camps, a dream of actor Paul Newman who has been a driving force for the world's largest family of camps for children with life threatening conditions. www.BoggyCreek.org

Red Line Rolex @ Daytona is an extension of Steve Maloney's This Is Where The Rubber Meets The Road, a vibrant series of mixed-media works created from crashed sheet metal from actual NASCAR racecars. www.ThisIsWhereTheRubberMeetsTheRoad.com

Emblematic of the velocity, danger and commercialization, Maloney created This Is Where The Rubber Meets The Road as a celebration not only of NASCAR, but also of the spirit of America that runs through the sport's fuel lines. The wall-mounted and board-backed contemporary sculptural collages as well as free standing sculptures reveal the artist's innovative take on color and form, with dented sheet metal, tire scraps and scuffed advertising logos merged into dizzying arrays of previously mechanized beauty.

Pebble Beach RetroAuto not only attracts the expected corporate automotive "names", but it also reaches a sophisticated, international clientele who desire the finest in automobile merchandise. In addition to the fine art you will find the latest luxury goods and technological tools to enhance today's driving experience or a brass sculpture of an historic Alfa Romeo race car, a detailed model of the latest Ferrari Formula 1 car, or a vintage Rolex. This is the place for an enthusiastic, cosmopolitan audience, for the true automobile connoisseurs and collectors.
